10. Eclipse
June 30th, 2010
The huge success of the Twilight doesnât seem like itâs going to end.
In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob â" knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.
9. Kick-As
April 16th, 2010
Not just another superhero flick.Kick-Ass tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name â" Kick-Ass â" assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. Thereâs only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.
His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).
8. Alice in Wonderland
March 5th, 2010
Tim Burton puts together his informal company â Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, composer Danny Elfman â for this brightly-coloured reinvention of the Lewis Carroll story. Basically a sequel to the original book, it employs a gang of British thesps to play the citizens of Wonderland. Tim Burton works his gothic magic over one of the best loved stories of all timeâ Lewis Carrollâs âAlice In Wonderlandâ and âThrough the Looking Glass and What Alice Found Thereâ, which first told the story of a young girl, who after following a rabbit down a hole, is transported to a strange world.
Whilst the disney version of the tale relied on sweetness and light to delight the audience, Burton fans can be sure to look out for the same cartoon traits as earlier masterpiece âThe Nightmare Before Christmasâ.
7. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
December 10th, 2010
Liam Neeson and Eddie Izzard lend their voices to two of the magnificent characters encountered by the young cast as they look for the Seven Lost Lords of Narnia. For good or for worse, this is indeed a pivotal point in the series. The Silver Chair and other Narnia movies will expand to a larger worldwide audience, if they should succeed.
Lucy and Edmund Pevensie return to Narnia with their cousin Eustace where they meet up with Prince Caspian for a trip across the sea aboard the royal ship The Dawn Treader. Along the way they encounter dragons, dwarves, merfolk, and a band of lost warriors before reaching the edge of the world.
6. Toy Story 3
June 18th, 2010
Toy Story 2, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo co-director Lee Unkrich strikes out on his own with this installment into the popular computer-animated series detailing the adventures of wide-eyed cowboy doll Woody and space-ranger action figure Buzz Lightyear. Oscar-nominated scribe Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine) handles screenwriting duties. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
5. The A Team
June 11th, 2010
1980s TV action gets a reboot with this new version of The A-Team, which shifts the Vietnam vet backstory to a group of Iraq War vets who become mercenaries for hire. Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) directs from a script by G.I. Joe's Skip Woods. Liam Neeson heads up the crew as Hannibal, the brains of the operation, with Bradley Cooper as Face, UFC star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson filling in for Mr. T as B.A. Baracus, and District 9's breakout star, Sharlto Copley, inheriting the unhinged role of "Howling Mad" Murdock. Jessica Biel also co-stars. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
4. Robin Hood
May 14th, 2010
Oscar winner Russell Crowe stars as the legendary figure known by generations as âRobin Hood,â whose exploits have endured in popular mythology and ignited the imagination of those who share his spirit of adventure and righteousness. In 13th century England, Robin and his band of marauders confront corruption in a local village and lead an uprising against the crown that will forever alter the balance of world power. And whether thief or hero, one man from humble beginnings will become an eternal symbol of freedom for his people.
Cate Blanchett replaces Sienna Miller as a widowed Maid Marian. The title âMaidâ may raise some eyebrows there. Due in mid-May this will almost certainly be one of the most talked-about film releases of the year.
